Wallingford’s Soriano to Serve as Captain of SCSU Men’s Soccer Team

The Wallingford resident has been named a team captain for the Owls, who open their season on Thursday.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford’s Alex Soriano has been named a captain, along with fellow senior Christian Samaniego (of Toronto, Ontario), of the Southern Connecticut University’s men’s soccer team.

Soriano enters his fourth season with the Owls this fall. A three-year starter to date, Soriano was named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie team as a freshman. He has also been recognized for his work in the classroom as a selection to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Entering his fourth season with the squad, Samaniego has been a starter in each of the past three years. As a junior, Samaniego was an All-Conference selection and led the Owls in assists (7). He has also been recognized for his work in the classroom as a selection to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

The Owls open the 2016 season with a match against Dominican on September 1 in Garden City, N.Y.
