Wallingford Scholastic Fall Sports: Past Titles, 2018 Schedules

A look at the state championship history in fall team sports at Sheehan and Lyman Hall high schools, plus their 2018 fall schedules.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Practice is now officially underway for all eight CIAC-sanctioned fall sports in Connecticut, with boys and girls cross country, field hockey, football, boys and girls soccer, girls swimming and girls volleyball teams setting out on their quests for league and state championships.

Among schools in Patch communities in New Haven County, Cheshire is the all-time leader with 69 fall team championships, followed by Guilford (40), Branford (25) and Amity Regional (22).

Area schools looking to repeat their 2017 state titles are Daniel Hand field hockey (M), football (L) and boys soccer (L); Pomperaug boys cross country (L) and girls cross country (L); and North Branford field hockey (S), Cheshire girls swimming (L) and Lauralton Hall girls swimming (M).

Sheehan High School's five fall state championships date back to 1976, while Lyman Hall has captured two fall state crowns since 1985.
