Wallingford School to be Renamed in Honor of Mary Fritz

Fritz, who served as the state representative for the 90th District for 32 years, passed away in July at the age of 78.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Yalesville Elementary School will be renamed in memory of former State Representative Mary Fritz, who died July 9 at the age of 78, following a unanimous vote of the Town Council this week, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports the name change will go into effect for the 2017 school year.

Fritz’s family had offered to pay for any costs resulting from the name change, but the council declined the offer and the town will fund the undetermined cost, according to the Record-Journal.
