Wallingford Schools to Open Year with Advanced First-Aid Products

Wallingford schools will be fully equipped with the QuikClot emergency bag, which is similar to what the military and hospital ERs use.

When the bell rings Wednesday morning to open the new scholastic year, Wallingford schools will be the first in the nation to be fully equipped with the QuikClot emergency bag as part of a pilot program.

According to WFSB 3, every school in the district was equipped with a QuikClot Bleeding Control Bag which contains advanced first-aid products and is similar to what is used by the military and in hospital emergency rooms.

The bags are part of a three-year pilot study called SAFE (Student And Faculty Emergency) with Z-Medica, a Wallingford-based company, according to WFSB.
