Wallingford Students Selected As U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidates

WALLINGFORD, CT — Eleven students from Wallingford have been selected as candidates for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

The students are Zara Jaferi and Kaleb McMorran-Ebbeka from Lyman Hall High School, Vedant Aryan, of Hopkins School, and Wallingford residents Olivia Jiayi Du, Lauren Hsu, Claire Liu, Sungjin Moon, Melody Qian, Rompicha Tangkaravakoon, Jacqueline Z. Yan, and Yuen Zhang from Choate Rosemary Hall.

Established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program recognizes and honors some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors.

Each year, up to 161 students are named as presidential scholars, one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.

The semifinalists will be announced in mid-April, followed by the 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars in early May.
