3 N.Y. Men Arrested For ID Theft In Waterford
Three men were arrested Thursday on identity theft charges.
WATERFORD, CT - Three New York men have been arrested on identity theft charges, according to police. The three men allegedly attempted to take possession of "fraudulently obtained iPhone XS MAX 256" devices.
Alex Tirado, of Bronx, N.Y., Edwin Guzman, of New York, N.Y., and Julio Reyes, of New York, N.Y., were charged with third-degree identity theft and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny. Guzman was also charged with criminal impersonation and illegal use of a credit card.
Police worked with the victim and a local business owner to capture the suspects.

According to police: Guzman entered the local business to collect the iPhones while Reyes and Tirado attempted to conduct counter surveillance for police.
Once inside the business Guzman provided fake identification purporting himself to be the victim and wanting to take possession of the cell phones.

At that time, police converged on the suspects, who were taken into custody without incident.
All three were held on $25,000 bond and will appear in court in New London.
