$5,000 Raised for Injured Waterford German Shepherd

Hans, a six-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd, was attacked by two pit bulls last month.

A GoFundMe page established for Hans, a six-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd from Waterford, has raised nearly $5,000 to help pay for the injured dog’s extensive medical bills.

While out for a walk in New London in late January, Hans was attacked and severely mauled by two pit bulls and has required more than $13,000 worth of surgeries to save his life and one of his legs, reports The Day.

Hans is owned by Andy Aspinwall and Brad Lake, and they are grateful for the assistance the page has provided. It was set up by friend Diane Boas.

“Basically, their help made us able to say, continue, save the leg,” Aspinwall told The Day. “The surgeon wanted $3,000 more before going in and I didn’t have it, and Brad didn’t have it. So all those people were really a godsend.”

The goal was to raise $5,000 and as of today, Feb. 7, it was raised $4,940.
