WATERFORD, CT — The Waterford Board of Selectmen is scheduled to consider more than $630,000 in appropriations and contract awards Tuesday, including funding for a water distribution project, police locker room renovations and roof replacement work at the Goshen Fire Station.
The board will meet at 5 p.m. Aug. 4 at Waterford Town Hall.
Among the largest items is a request from Utilities Director Jill Stevens for a $200,000 appropriation from the General Fund Balance to establish a Water Distribution System Emergency Capital Reserve for fiscal year 2027. According to supporting documents, the reserve would provide funding for emergency repairs to aging water infrastructure that exceed routine maintenance thresholds.
The board is also expected to consider awarding a $141,000 contract to Donnegan Systems Inc. through the MHCEC cooperative purchasing program to replace lockers in the Waterford Police Department. Police Chief David Ferland recommended the award, saying the project would replace the department's existing locker systems.
Fire service officials have requested two related actions involving Fire Station #3 on Goshen Road. The board will consider appropriating $178,000 from designated funds for replacement of the station's flat roof and awarding a $178,000 contract to The Imperial Company of Cromwell to complete the project through the OMNIA Partners cooperative purchasing program. Supporting documents state the proposal was selected after three qualified bidders submitted proposals.
The board is also scheduled to consider declaring a Fire Services HP LaserJet 4050 printer surplus so it can be sold at auction or otherwise disposed of under the town's property ordinance.
Finance Director Kimberly Allen has requested a $112,092 fiscal year 2026 out-of-series budget transfer to cover salary increases, staff resignation costs, increased advertising expenses, higher solid waste disposal costs and other departmental adjustments. If approved by the selectmen, the request would be forwarded to the Board of Finance.
The agenda also includes appointments and resignations, new and old business, correspondence and a consent agenda that includes tax refunds and approval of the Board of Selectmen's July 7 and July 21 meeting minutes.
