• Federal lawsuit claims Waterford police officers left intellectually disabled man paralyzed (theday.com) — Waterford police and the Town of Waterford are facing a federal civil rights lawsuit after a 2024 arrest left a 19-year-old Norwich man paralyzed, according to court filings. The suit alleges officers used excessive force and mishandled medical care during a dirt bike stop on Lakes Pond Road, while town officials and police have not yet publicly responded as the case proceeds in U.S. District Court.
   

• An Improved Mike Burrows Might Be Coming to the Astros (yardbarker.com) — A Major League pitcher from Waterford, Conn., Mike Burrows, is working his way back to the Houston Astros after struggling earlier this season. Strong rehab outings in Triple-A, including nine scoreless innings so far, suggest he could soon rejoin the big-league club and try to finish the year on a high note.
