5 Things To Know In Waterford: Trunk-Or-Treat, Electric Boat At Crystal Mall, Job Fair And More

Waterford's week brings a Trunk-or-Treat at the high school, an EDC update on Electric Boat at Crystal Mall and a state job fair.

WATERFORD, CT — Waterford's week ends with a Trunk-or-Treat at the high school, and before that the Economic Development Commission gets an update on Electric Boat at Crystal Mall and the library hosts a state job fair.

1. Waterford's Wicked Wonderland Trunk-Or-Treat
When: Sunday, Oct. 18, 2 to 4 p.m. (neurodivergent-friendly hour 1 to 1:30 p.m.)
Where: Waterford High School circular parking lot, 20 Rope Ferry Road
What to know: The free family event includes a costume parade and contest, a trunk contest, food vendors, an inflatable firehouse, military support and music, according to the town. Children under 12 must be with an adult, and kids should bring their own bags. Trunk registration closes Oct. 12 and is capped at 50 vehicles; candy donations and questions go to Joe Trelli at Youth Services, 860-444-5848.

2. EDC Gets Update On Electric Boat At Crystal Mall
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 5 p.m.
Where: Appleby Meeting Room, Town Hall, 15 Rope Ferry Road
What to know: The Economic Development Commission will hear an update on Electric Boat at Crystal Mall and on the 2026 Plan of Conservation and Development, and discuss new projects, its 2027 meeting schedule and its 2025-26 annual report, according to the agenda. Old business includes an update on a part-time EDC community liaison.

3. State Labor Department Career Fair At The Library
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Waterford Public Library, 49 Rope Ferry Road
What to know: The Connecticut Department of Labor and the library are holding a career resource fair with participating employers that have jobs available now, according to the town. Staff can help with networking, resumes and interview skills. Bring copies of your resume and dress for success; registration is in person at the event.

4. Hydrant Flushing Continues North Of Boston Post Road
When: Through December; October and November work covers Boston Post Road and north
Where: Boston Post Road
What to know: Water main flushing and fire hydrant inspections that began Oct. 1 continue, with October and November work on Boston Post Road and areas north, including Quaker Hill and Cohanzie, according to the town. Signs mark active flushing areas. If water looks discolored, run the cold water for five to 10 minutes.

5. Let's Speak English Together At The Library
When: Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Where: Conference Room, Waterford Public Library, 49 Rope Ferry Road
What to know: The library's adult English conversation group meets Saturday mornings through mid-December, according to the library's event listing, which the town posted to its news feed.
