Waterford will hold tree-lighting celebrations Friday, Dec. 11, at Jordan Green and Saturday, Dec. 12, at Quaker Hill Green, the town announced. Both begin at 5:30 p.m., with a light-up stroller parade preceding the Jordan Green festivities.
The town's stroller parade announcement invites participants to decorate their strollers, wagons, themselves and their families. Participants should meet at the main entrance to Captain Arnold E. Holm Jr. Memorial Park for a prompt 5 p.m. start Friday, Dec. 11. Officers Fredricks and Hodges will lead two laps around the pond in a lit-up cart playing holiday music. Afterward, participants can follow the officers to Jordan Green.
The Jordan Green celebration, at 65 Rope Ferry Road, will feature an elementary school chorus singing holiday tunes and a 5678 Dance performance, according to the town's tree-lighting announcement. Food vendors will offer items for purchase, while cookies and hot cocoa will be free. Photo opportunities and luminaries decorated by children from the combined elementary schools are also planned.
At Quaker Hill Green, children and neighbors will sing holiday tunes, and luminaries decorated by Quaker Hill elementary school-aged children will be displayed. Free cookies and hot cocoa will be available afterward at QH Firehouse, according to the town.
Both celebrations will feature a Hometown Hero lighting the tree and visits from Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Officers Fredricks and Hodges will also greet attendees at both locations.
