The event will honor Chris Meyers, a firefighter and EMT.

WATERFORD/EAST LYME, CT — It has been nearly a year since Firefighter - EMT Chris “Buzzy” Myers left us, his family, as well as those he served with at Waterford’s Cohanzie Fire Co. #5 and East Lyme’s Flanders Fire Department. Buzzy, a veteran of the Army Airborne, dedicated his life and passion to the service of others, and tragically due to circumstances that all too often impact First Responders and Veterans succumbed to those injuries that are just beneath the surface and frequently ignored.

Rather than focus on the loss, join in and help celebrate Buzzy’s life by taking part in the Chris Myers Family Fun Day and Corn Hole Tournament. This event will help to support organizations and causes of Firefighter-EMT Myer’s family, keeping his spirit and commitment to community alive. The Chris Myers Family Fun Day and Corn Hole Tournament will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Waterford’s Cohanzie Fire Station, between 9:30AM and 5:00PM.

Participation in the Corn Hole Tournament is $60 per team, in the double elimination competition. For those who wish to take part in the event, while cheering on Corn Hole competitors, there will bounce house for the kids, volleyball and basketball for fun, and food trucks to enjoy. Whether or not you personally knew Buzzy Myers need not matter, he touched so many people as a dedicated volunteer of two Fire Departments.

Along the way, Buzzy helped train others, believed strongly in making sure the generation coming up behind him was dedicated and focused on service to the community and for the purposes of this event celebrating his life … while helping support worthy causes … he took great pleasure in “aggressively encouraging” people as they played corn hole.
