Body of Missing Waterford Resident Found in Uncas Pond

After a long search, the body of a missing resident was found in a Lyme pond.

LYME, CT – The body of a missing Waterford man was found in Uncas Pond around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, The Day reported.

Police are treating the death as a suicide, pending further investigation and results from an autopsy, according to The Day.

At approximately 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a missing person report from a resident. A search for Ashley Saunders, 62, was then put into effect, according to a release.

Saunders was operating a blue 2006 Accura and was last seen Monday at approximately 6:30 p.m. in Waterford. The vehicle was located Tuesday in the Becket Hill State Park Reserve in Lyme.

Connecticut State Police are still searching the area, while the Waterford Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in locating Mr. Saunders. Police said there are some health concerns involving Saunders.
