Ireland Calling! ~ From one Waterford to Another
As May draws to a close, I hope you enjoy this Ireland Calling! Slideshow for tthe month which I produced from my base in Co. Waterford.
As we reach the end of May, I would like to bring you a slideshow that I put together from my base in Co. Waterford, to show how Ireland was looking in May.
One of the big happenings in Ireland in May is the start of the Hurling Championship. Hurling is one of Ireland's national games. It is played with a stick made from ash and a ball called a 'sliotar.' Hurling is arguably the fastest game in the world and requires exceptional skill. There are 15 players on a team and the passion that goes with the sport is amazing.
The Hurling Championship involves the various counties in Ireland playing against each other and I am delighted to report that Co. Waterford has had an extremely good team over the last decade or so.

I know that there is some hurling played in the US. I'm wondering if it is played in Waterford CT or nearby?
I've included two photographs from the very first game of the Hurling Championship. The two counties involved were Tipperary and Limerick. Waterford is due to play its first round in June. The whole county will be decorated with blue and white flags and bunting for that big event!

Speaking of colour, Ireland has come into full bloom during May and one of Co. Waterford's jewels, Mount Congreve Garden, which is world famous, has been looking absolutely stunning. You will see a number of shots of it on the slideshow too. And, of course, I had to include Waterford's coastline which has been sparkling during a recent heatwave.
I hope you enjoy this glimpse of Ireland and Irishness. To view the slideshow, click here.
