Online Safety Tips.

Want to prevent computer viruses? Then this article is for you.

In this day and age the Internet is a very good and fast way to find information, shop, and socialize. But with all these great advantages comes a major downfall... viruses. They can come through e-mail, downloads, ads, etc. and their all set on attacking your computer making it in-operable. Here are some tips on how to avoid your computer from becoming the next victim to a virus.

One: Get a good anti virus software. There are, believe it or not, good free anti-virus software on the Internet. But you must be extremely careful with your choice as groups of people sometimes make fake anti-virus that actually give your system viruses. My favorite free ones are AVG, Avast! and, shockingly, Microsoft Security Essentials.

Two: Use a Mac. Though Macs do get viruses not many of them can attack properly if at all. A downfall to this is mostly for gamers because not all major games have a Mac version and if they do they require higher Specs.

Three: Get a Linux distro. To be honest I have used both Windows and Linux Ubuntu and have heard about Macs. Only Linux has proved to be virus resistant as the systems are so complex viruses can't attack at all. Downfalls to this is gaming and limitations to distro specific programs a.k.a. Ubuntu can't run Mint programs and Ubunto 11.03 can't run 11.04 programs.

Four: Limit what you do. Don't download a bunch of programs from the Internet and don't view every E-Mail you receive.

Five: Don't be gullible. Trust me all those free IPads and cruises are not all real, rarely are there real ones. By giving into these spam E-Mails you might give out your address, credit card info, and, worst to your computer, your IP address. These E-Mails can also steal your account info and send the E-Mail to all your contacts.

Six: Smell out and report all suspicous downloads, E-Mails, etc. I believe there are ways to report spam emails to the governments investigation group.

Seven: Last but not least. DO NOT FORWARD KNOWN VIRUSES TO OTHERS it is illegal to do so. Not only that but don't make viruses either as it is also illegal.
