On Monday June 6, 2011, the Town of Waterford's Public Works Department, utilizing a reclaiming and paving contractor, will be conducting road repairs to the sewer trenches damaged by the March 2010 flood. This work will take place from 7:00 AM until possibly as late as 8:00 PM. Old Colchester Road will be closed between #40 and #50 Old Colchester Road. Every effort will be expended to open the road sooner, but an 8 to 13 hour closure is necessary to complete the repairs in one day and not cause a multi-day inconvenience. Old Colchester Road between Moxley Road and Dogwood Drive will be open to local traffic only, and will be reduced to one-way, alternating direction traffic in some locations. Through traffic should find alternate routes. A detour (see below) option around the closure will be marked via Bloomingdale Road, Vauxhall Street Ext, Hunts Brook Road and Unger/Moxley Road.
Every effort will be expended to allow residents of #40 - #50 Old Colchester Road and residents on intersecting Pennicott Road access to their homes, but they should make arrangements to park their vehicles outside the construction zone to avoid possibly long delays. Quaker Hill Fire House rear parking lot is a recommended alternate location.
