The exterior of the Waterford Police Department was recently painted by two inmates from the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Institution in Montville, Ct. Department of Corrections inmates Patrick and Ed (last names withheld) painted the building soffets, the main entranceway, stair railings, an outbuilding and several other exterior items.
The Waterford Police used grant monies to purchase the paint and stain, resulting in no cost to the Waterford taxpayer. This project saved the Town of Waterford an estimated $6500.00
Both inmates are part of a Department of Corrections work crew supervised by Correctional Grounds Officers Joseph Schoonmaker and Jason Ware. All inmates assigned to this work crew are screened and are obviously "low security" risks. Corrigan-Radgowski Warden Erfe at times allows the work crew to be made available to municipalities based on inmate skill levels.
