The Waterford Historical Society’s 2026 “Art In Waterford: Past+Present+Future” juried art show opens April 20 in Waterford Town Hall, featuring patriotic art and local scenery by regional artists. Town Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Veterans’ artwork has also been on display since February, and all artwork will remain on display until September 17.
A banner over the doors at the Town Hall entrance proclaims “We, the artists … celebrate our country’s 250th year of independence and the Town of Waterford’s 225th year of independence.”On behalf of the Town of Waterford, First Selectman Rob Brule is collaborating with the Waterford Historical Society to display artwork throughout 2026 in the main hallway of Town Hall, providing a place for local artists to celebrate our country and the signing of the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago.An “Art In Waterford” reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. on April 30 in the main auditorium of Town Hall when the public is invited to come to meet the artists and purchase artwork. Calling all renters and first-time homebuyers!
Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut will be hosting the second annual
Homeowner Readiness Resource Fair on Tuesday evening, May 5th,&nbsp;in the lobbyof the Garde Arts Center of New London from 5pm – 7pm. The event is free and open to the public. All are welcome.



Organizations from different journeys in the housing continuum, along with representatives from local financial institutions, will have information available for first-time homebuyers and renters seeking to purchase a home.


Those in attendance will be able to connect with professionals specializing in housing stability guidance, rental assistance, mortgage programs, and education and work skill development.


Organizations attending thus far include Always Home, the American Jobs Center, Child and Family Agency of Southeastern CT, Connecticut Finance Housing Authority, Comparion Insurance, CONNTAC – Educational Opportunities Center, Dime Bank, Eastern Connecticut Housing Organization (ECHO), Homestead Funding Corporation, H.O.P.E., Inc, OIC Employment Services, Partnership for Strong Communities, Safe Futures, Self-Help Federal Credit Union, SNAP Coordinator, CT State, Three Rivers, Step Up New London, TVCCA, United Way of Southeastern CT and others!






Habitat for Humanity will highlight their mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Ensuring Habitat homeowners do not pay more than 30 percent of their income on housing costs, Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut has built 114 homes in the region and has plans to build over 60 more homes over the next several years.
