Call for Artists for 4th annual Art In Waterford exhibition

Contemporary Connecticut artists are invited to submit one or two original works of art for consideration for inclusion in the juried exhibit of “present” artists at the Waterford Historical Society’s 4th annual Art In Waterford: Past+Present+Future event, to take place on historic Jordan Green on August 6 and 7, 2022.

The theme of the present artists’ exhibition is anything that relates to southeastern Connecticut, such as people, towns, historic buildings, iconic scenes, objects, rivers, shorelines and more. The deadline for online submissions is May 15, 2022.

Both two- and three-dimensional art will be considered, including photography. All art must be the original work of the artist. No work done under instruction or tutelage is allowed. Artists may offer their work for sale and “Not for sale” entries are allowed. For any sold pieces, the Waterford Historical Society will retain 25% of the sale price, and remit 75% to the artist.

There are no entry fees. Artists need not be a member of the Waterford Historical Society to enter, but they are welcome to join the Society with an individual membership of $25.

Free and family-oriented, the 4th annual Art In Waterford: Past+Present+Future exhibition will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 6 and 7, 2022. The juried art exhibit for present contemporary artists will be located in the Margaret Stacy Barn. A well-known Waterford artist from years past will be featured in the historic Beebe-Phillips House. Students from Clark Lane Middle School, Waterford High School, The Williams School and Saint Bernard School will display their artwork in the 18th-century schoolhouse as future artists. In addition, there will be en plein air painters, tours of the historic buildings, live music, classic cars, and the blacksmith's forge will be operating. Colonial crafts for children will be offered by the Waterford Public Library.
