Chamber Foundation Bowl-a-thon Nets $7,800

The money raised will go to help children in eastern Connecticut through the Foundation's annual grant program. This year, the Foundation awarded more than $90,000 to 23 nonprofits that directly work with children in the region.

Waterford, CT (April 30, 2014) — The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Foundation raised $7,815 during its 3rd Annual Bowl-a-Thon at Foxwoods Resort Casino’s High Rollers on April 22.

The money raised will go to help children in eastern Connecticut through the Foundation’s annual grant program. This year, the Foundation awarded more than $90,000 to 23 nonprofits that directly work with children in the region.

“I would like to once again thank all of our returning sponsors, as well as our new ones, and all who participated in raising funds for the 3rd Annual Bowl-a-Thon at High Rollers," said Lou Ziegler, chairman of the Chamber Foundation Board of Directors. “The event sold out for the third straight year, and the Foundation raised $7,815 to further support underprivileged children of Eastern Connecticut.”

The participating teams/lane sponsors were:  

  • Interim HealthCare of Eastern Connecticut, Inc. (1st place in bowling and in fundraising, each won a year of free bowling at High Rollers)

  • Chelsea Groton Bank (2nd place bowling, each won gift cards to Red Lantern)

  • Foxwoods Resort Casino (3rd place bowling, each won gift cards to Scorpion Bar)

  • Overhead Door Company of Norwich, Inc. & A Beautiful Company General Contractors

  • Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Foundation

  • ServiceMaster of Norwich/New London

  • Lawrence + Memorial Hospital

  • Bouvier Insurance (2 teams)

  • The William W. Backus Hospital (lane and beverage sponsor)

  • Wireless Zone also contributed gift certificates for every participant and a Smart Watch for one lucky winner.

    Ziegler said planning for the 2015 Bowl-A-Thon is already underway. The Foundation’s next fundraiser, its marquee event, is the Holiday Gala, which will be Dec. 12 at Mohegan Sun.
