Clark Lane Middle School Receives Award from Sandy Hook Promise

On March 1, 2017, Clark Lane Middle School was awarded a runner up prize of $500 for the Say Something Student Spirit, Creativity and Sustainability Award. This award was presented by Sandy Hook Promise, an organization dedicated to preventing violence in schools. The competition was nationwide, with Clark Lane Middle School being recognized for its efforts during and after Say Something Week 2016. Presenting were Marykay Wishneski, National Program Coordinator with Sandy Hook Promise, and Mark Barden, co-founder of Sandy Hook Promise and father of a victim of the Sandy Hook shooting. The ceremony featured student speakers expressing the lessons they learned during Say Something Week as well as the unveiling of a new art installation dedicated to Clark Lane Middle School’s participation in Say Something activities. Clark Lane Middle School is very grateful for this honor and will use the award to fund future Say Something activities and clubs.
