Doughnut-Loving Cops Share Dozens With Middle School Kids

We didn't say it, they did! 'Cops love donuts!' Waterford police officers greet kids at Clark Lane Middle school with 7 dozen doughnuts.

WATERFORD, CT—You have to love the Waterford Police Department Facebook page. It takes itself seriously when it needs to and otherwise, has found in the social network a way to celebrate and promote its community policing.

And this week, it was with doughnuts.

"Cops love donuts...so do kids! Officer Lane had a donut day at the Clark Lane Middle School, purchasing 7 dozen donuts from one of the police department forfeiture funds, and had them ready for kids as they came to school today. He got brand new recruits Rogers and Mancini, as well as their field training officers Flanagan and Firmin to stop by.

Officer Whitehead and Blanchette stopped as well, just because they like donuts? Wait... no, because they're interested in what's happening at the school and reaching out to the kids. The Chief stopped as well cause he definitely likes donuts, but as is typical he showed up late, so he got nothing.

All of us were able to say hi to over 100 kids as they came to school, handshakes and fistbumps abounded. Prinicpal Sachs and the new gym teacher, Kate Flanagan were there as well, everyone had a great start tot heir morning, and in their very first hour on the job, Recruits Mancini and Rogers got to see what we think of our kids in Waterford's schools.
