Under the direction of Erin and Chris Stanley, East Lyme Regional Theater presents this year’s summer production, “Seussical the Musical.” “Seussical” will be the theater group’s fifth production. East Lyme Regional Theater was founded in 2011 and is proudly sponsored by East Lyme Parks and Rec. Since then the group continues to see great success and support from their community members with high interest in not only their summer productions, but their summer arts camp, and arts classes held throughout the year.
“Seussical The Musical” is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza for the whole family to enjoy! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (“Ragtime,” “Once On This Island”) tell the re-tell the famous works of Dr. Seuss through song and dance. With help from The Cat in the Hat portrayed by Cory Candelet , meet some of Seuss’s well-known and beloved characters: including Horton the Elephant Jaron Wilbur, Gertrude McFuzz (Natalie Andrews), Mayzie La Bird (Emily Young), and little JoJo (Patrick Conway), an excited young boy with a fantastic imagination. These colorful characters, in addition to many others, transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the invisible world of the Who’s.
“Seussical the Musical” conveys the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community, and how they are challenged and emerge triumphant. This is a heart warming magical musical for the entire family.
