Food Drive at Niantic Community Church 2-7-2016

On February 7th, Super Bowl Sunday, middle school youth at Niantic Community Church will join the nation in celebrating football, but they will also have additional fun in a unique way.

These 5th through 8th graders will provide an opportunity for the community to restock the shelves of the United Way Gemma Moran Food Center by collecting non-perishable food items on what they call, “SOUPer Bowl of Caring Sunday.” This food center services shelters, food banks and meal centers throughout New London County. In 2015 the youth collected over 800 lbs of food; they hope to collect 1000 lbs this year.

Donations can be made at Niantic Community Church during office hours on the days leading up to SOUPer Bowl Sunday. The main collection will be on Sunday, February 7th from 8:30am- 12:00pm at the Niantic Community Church parking lot at 170 Pennsylvania Avenue in Niantic. Just look for the Gemma Moran Food Center Truck!
