Iconic Crystal Mall On The Auction Block, Bids Start At $2M
Listing shows the Waterford mall, which served as social ground zero for New London County teens and shoppers for generations, is for sale.

WATERFORD, CT — A listing shows the Crystal Mall of Waterford is on the auction block, with bids starting at $2 million. The listing, by commercial real estate service company JLL, is dated April 2. Bidding begins on May 15.
Located at 850 Hartford Turnpike, in Waterford, the mall was built in 1984 with additional construction in 1987.
Now with just an occupancy rate of less than 65 percent, the shopping mall was a busy mecca for a number of generations. The two-story 535,494 square foot mall sits on 82 acres.

According to the listing, the mall features an "anchor lineup including JCPenney (91,588 SF, owned), Christmas Tree Shops (subletting a portion of the former Bed Bath & Beyond space, 80,892 SF, owned), a former Macy’s (121,270 SF, non-owned, dark) and a Seritage-owned box (150,632 SF, non-owned, dark)..."
On the mall's website, it states that the Crystal Mall is the "only regional mall within a 50 mile radius."

"Crystal Mall is a two-level mall boasting 60+ specialty stores and anchored by major retailers, JCPenney and Christmas Tree Shops/And That.
