Killingly Student Dies After Medical Emergency During Little League Game: Report

School officials said a Killingly student has died after suffering a medical emergency during a Little League game.

KILLINGLY, CT — Police said a Killingly student died after suffering a medical emergency during a Little League game, according to media reports. School officials learned of the girl’s death Tuesday at approximately 10 p.m.

The girl was both a student at Killingly Intermediate School and a member of one of the Little League teams, according to NBC Connecticut. School officials said the medical emergency occurred at Roseland Park in Woodstock.

The opposing team, Woodstock Middle School, was also alerted to the tragic situation, NBC Connecticut reported. Guidance counselors and support staff will be made available at both schools to help grieving students, staff and faculty.

The game was not a school athletic event, according to the Norwich Bulletin. Superintendent Lynne Pierson said support will be available on an ongoing basis as needed.
