Man Charged In Donation Jar Theft Caught By Waterford Police

A man suspected of stealing a gas station donation jar has been caught by Waterford police.

WATERFORD - A man suspected of stealing a gas station donation jar has been caught by Waterford police. The incident occurred earlier this month at a Hess gas station located at 124 Boston Post Road, according to a release.

Police said members of Regional Community Enhancement Task Force and the Waterford Police Department arrested Joseph Tonelli, 34, on Wednesday at approximately 8 a.m. He was arrested for having two outstanding failure to appear warrants, police said.

Tonelli was also charged in connection with the Friday’s Dog Rescue Foundation collection jar theft, police said. The incident was reported on May 20, police said. (To sign up for Waterford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Tonelli was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
