Man Charged In Waterford With Operating A Drug Factory: Police

WATERFORD, CT — A man is facing drug-dealing charges following a traffic stop in Waterford, according to a police statement. Police conducted a traffic stop on a white Mercedes sedan on Hartford Road at 1:51 a.m. Friday.

The driver failed to stop immediately, but did stop about three-quarters of a mile later, according to police. The driver was identified as Scott Gomes, 27, of Norwich.

Police believed that Gomes was intoxicated and conducted sobriety testing. Gomes was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Montville police responded with a K9 officer certified in drug detection. As a result of the investigation, police found cocaine, more than 8 ounces of marijuana, a stiletto-style knife, and more than 60 THC cartridges for vapes and/or e-cigarettes.

During a vehicle inventory, police also found PCP, ecstasy/MDMA, high-capacity magazines, 9 mm ammunition, US currency, and a gun.

Gomes was charged with disobeying the signal of a police officer, sale of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia, and weapons in a motor vehicle.

He was held on $50,000 bond.
