Meet Tonka, Waterford Police's New K9

Tonka is shown in the photos detecting narcotics and tracking with his handler, Officer Flanagan.

New Waterford Police K9 “Tonka”

So...Loki, our former “new” K9, didn’t work out. Our K9 trainer, Officer Lane, was concerned about Loki’s skittishness, and he was ultimately washed out after about a week and a half. Loki was returned to the kennel where he was purchased, and we got a new K9 - dog for dog, no extra money.

Enter our new guy, K9 Tonka. Tonka shows none of the issues that Loki did, and has been working out great. The pictures show Tonka detecting narcotics and tracking with his handler Officer Flanagan.

We’ve obviously known that we have a new K-9 unit, but wanted to make sure he worked out before sharing. We’re confident (well, Master Trainer Lane is confident) that Tonka is our new K9 on the force, so give him a warm welcome.
