Microchipping Clinic for Horses Coming in September

The microchip fee Includes a lifetime listing in the Equine Protection Registry.

A microchip clinic for equines will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, atConnecticut Draft Horse Rescue, 15 Rock Landing Rd., Haddam Neck.

A $50 pre-registration required and includes a lifetime listing in the Equine Protection Registry.

“Permanent identification is critical to recovering your horse after theft, loss, natural disasters, for registration purposes or as proof of ownership,” Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue noted on a poster for the clinic. “Many auctions and slaughter pens are now scanning horses for microchips and through the Equine Protection registry, your horse may even be intercepted before shipping to slaughter.”

The lifetime EPR registration lists emergency contacts and can even list medications which would make your horse ineligible to be slaughtered for human consumption, according to the CDHR.

The clinic is offered by the Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue in conjunction with Connecticut Emergency Animal Response Service.
