Microsoft Telephone Scam Comes to Waterford
Police are asking Waterford residents to help spread the word about the scam.

Post from Waterford Police Department:
The Waterford Police Department has taken numerous calls and emails regarding a “Microsoft” scam in our area. Numerous people have been called by someone who reports themselves to be from Microsoft, and asked them to log into their computer to look at files or other Windows applications.
Once logged in, the scam perpetrator has access to all of the files and abilities to load viruses on the computer to take credit card numbers or other identifiers. They are certainly not a legitimate member of the Microsoft corporation.
As always we encourage you to make calls on your own and not pay attention to unsolicited calls. Legitimate companies like Microsoft will not reach out to you, but will have you go through their service centers for your computer needs.
Please share, and if you know seniors that don’t have Facebook, please let them know of this scam in our area.
