Nancy Giordano Niedbalski, Waterford Teacher, Died on March 25

Nancy Giordano Niedbalski, of Waterford, died peacefully on March 25, 2015 at the age of 94.
She grew up in Groton, went to Fitch High School, where she played on the girls’ basketball team.
Nancy was class treasurer her junior year at Willimantic State Teachers’ College graduating with a B.S. in 1942.

At the end of the War, she met her future husband, Gene, at The Russian Rooster social club in Groton. She taught elementary school for 25 years in Groton and Waterford, earning the respect of her students and colleagues.

She and Gene toured Europe once in 1968, and again in 1980. They were regular donors and volunteers for the Red Cross blood drive, and active with the SNET Pioneers.

Nancy is survived by her sister Virginia, her son Bob, her grandsons Paul and Niall, her great grandson Liam, and her great granddaughter Mira.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 Saturday morning, March 28, at the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 10 Huntington St, New London.

Her burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery in New London. There are to be no visiting hours.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Red Cross or some other charitable organization.
