National Astronomy Day star gazing at Connecticut College

Free and open to the public. Bring the kids.

Come celebrate the night skies and enjoy binocular and telescopic views of the Moon, Jupiter, Orion Nebula and more, weather permitting. Plus tours of the springtime night sky, computer and hands-on childrens’ astronomy activities will be held throughout the evening. Open no matter what the weather.

Guest speakers:

R. M. “Max” Maxwell, Mystic Seaport, “How to use a star wheel”. This talk will be followed by a sky tour using star guides and wheels, weather permitting. Talk start times: 7:45 & 8:45 p.m.

Dr. Lorraine Allen, Professor of Physics, US-CGA: “The Sun’s Dynamic Magnetic Field”. Talk start times: 7:45 & 9:15 p.m.

Speaker to be announced, “First Contact! Pluto”. Talk start times: 8:30 & 9:20 p.m.
