Niantic River Bridge Closing for Part of This Week

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing more night time bridge maintenance that will require closure of the Niantic River Bridge on Route 156 in Waterford/Niantic.

This work is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 to the morning of Wednesday, July 15, 2015.

Westbound motorists will be directed to use West Street to NIantic River Road to Route One to Pennsylvania Avenue in East Lyme. Eastbound motorists will be directed to use Pennsylvania Ave in East Lyme to Boston Post Road to Niantic River Road and return to Route 156.

Signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the detour.

The regular work schedule for this project is from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

In the case of weather restraints the date will change to Wednesday July 15, 2015 to Thursday July 16, 2015.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
