Alicia Ethel Morris Gayle, 97, of Waterford passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Gayle was born on July 16, 1919 in New London the daughter of the late Andrew and Alice Hodges Morris. She was a 1936 graduate of the former Williams Memorial Institute in New London.

Ethel had married the late Glenn L. Gayle on October 28, 1950 in New London. Glenn passed away on June 9, 2003. For many years she had worked as a telephone operator for the former Southern New England Telephone Company.
Her many interests included duck pin bowling, square dancing; she and her husband were members of the Lads and Lassies Square Dance Club as well as arts and crafts.

Ethel’s survivors include two daughters Cynthia Lanzarotto and her husband David of Quaker Hill, Pamela Gatchek of Willimantic, CT, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St, in New London is assisting her family with the arrangements which will be held privately in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London.
In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to a Charity of the Donor’s choice.
