Obituary: Annie Victoria Bender, 97, of Waterford

Annie V. Bender, 97, of Waterford passed away on Friday November 25, 2016 at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.

She was born on September 19, 1919 in Stonington, CT the daughter of the late Joseph and Almorinda Coit Victoria.Mrs. Bender was married on June 5, 1943 in Stonington to the late William M. Bender, Sr. He passed away in 1997.

For over 20 years, Annie had worked as a cashier for the Waterford School System. She had also worked at the former Holly House in New London and as a riveter at Electric Boat in Groton during World War II.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Church in New London and St Paul's Church in Waterford. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, bowling, dancing, going to the Boston Red Sox baseball games and watching the UCONN women's basketball team on TV.

Annie is survived by her four children and their spouses Nancy B. and Robert Fielding of Quaker Hill, CT, Linda and Lawrence Elliott of Waterford, William M. and Nancy Bender, Jr. of Preston, Robert W. and Kristen Bender of Waterford, three sisters Laura Hadley of FL, Mary Silvia of RI, Audrey Goff of CA, one brother Alden Victoria of FL, 7 grandchildren Dwayne, Stacie, Karlynn, James, Susan, Elliott and Chelsea, 10 Great Grandchildren Kiana, Ciara, Cameron,Gillian, Derek, Bria, Emily, Kasey, Michael and Athena, 2 Great Great Grandchildren: Breyanna and April. She had also been predeceased by 5 brothers and 3 sisters, Anthony, Joseph, Gilbert,James and baby Anthony. 3 sisters: Geneveve, Elizabeth and baby Madeleine.

Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St, New London is assisting her family with arrangements which are to be private.
