Obituary: Brenda Floyd, 68, Of Waterford
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who wanted the best for everyone around her. She will be profoundly missed.

Brenda Floyd, 68, of Waterford, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at her home. She was born on September 5, 1950, in New London, the daughter of Joseph P. and Emily E. (Simmons) Coleman.
Brenda retired as a mess attendant at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London where she had worked for 35 years.

She married her loving husband James W. Floyd on February 13, 1968 and this year they celebrated 50 years together. He survives her.
Brenda was a very generous and loving person who opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who wanted the best for everyone around her. She will be profoundly missed.

Besides her husband James, she is survived by her children Charmaine Floyd, James Floyd, Jr., Ronald Floyd, Jermaine Floyd, and Shantee Floyd; thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters Charmaine Johnson, Marcella Plummer, Jackie Cluff, Sharon Whitfield, Michelle Gibson; brothers Elliott Coleman, Rev. Joseph Coleman, and Roderick Coleman.
She was predeceased by her brother Glenn Coleman.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington Street, New London. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New London.
