Obituary: Ella Laverne Hayes, 81, Of Waterford

Ella "Verne" Hayes 81, of 82 Fogplain Road, Waterford, CT died February 24 at L&M hospital. She was born to Otis and Ella Mae Ellis on October 18th, 1936 in Macon, Georgia.

Ella is survived by her husband Raymond Hayes, brother William Ellis, sister in-law Joyce Lumadue, her children, Catherine Milne, John and Lynne Ruggio, Michele Shull, Debera Donavan, James and Sarah Hayes, Michelle Noke, 29 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Pre-deceased are two children, Albert Ruggio and Lewis Hayes, and two sisters, Thema DiCecca and Mert Wesley.

Ella retired from L&M hospital after 19 years of service. She was loved by many. She was a consistent donor to many charity organizations, and carried an open heart and arms to all those who are in need. She will be forever loved and missed!

Visitation will be Saturday, March 2, 2018 at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home (12 Ocean Avenue, New London) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to VNA Waterford (403 North Frontage Road, Waterford, CT 06385).
