Obituary: George H. Chartress III, 65, Of Waterford

Those that knew him will remember George was always a true gentleman, who always helped anyone in need.

George H. Chartress III, of Waterford, CT, 65, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 31. He was born on September 29, 1952, in New London to Alice Elizabeth Chartress and the late George Howard Chartress II.

George lived in Norwich for most of his life. He graduated from Montville High School in 1970 and Attended Three Rivers Community College. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea.

He is survived by his mother Alice Chartress; his sister Leslie Tansey; his nephew Kevin Tansey; Jr. and his wife Cassie, two nieces, Kaelyn and Makenna Tansey all of Galloway, NJ; and the long time love of his life Irene DeJordy and her children: Melissa Tuchon (Guy) of Campton, NH; Maria Roberts (Charles) of Charlestown, RI; Renee Kudrak (Ken) of Colchester, CT and Candice Bradley (Doug) of Richmond, RI.

He is predeceased by his brother in-law Kevin Tansey Sr.

He was a plumber for many years in the community. His greatest passion was being a pilot; he enjoyed flying his airplane and helicopter out of Westerly, RI and was a member of AOPA. He also loved to spend time with his beloved dog Touche.

Those that knew him will remember he was always a true gentleman and always helped anyone in need.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 12. from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 at the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Avenue, New London, CT. Burial will take place on Monday, November 13 at 10 a.m. in Cedar Grove Cemetery, 638 Broad Street, New London, CT.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the National Parks Conservation Association or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
