Waterford- It is with a broken heart that the family of Margaret Elizabeth Samul, of Waterford, announces her sudden and premature passing. She was the beloved daughter of her late parents, Elizabeth K. and Thomas J. Samul Jr. She is survived by her devastated family, sister, Patricia Samul Buono, brother-in-law, Robert Buono, loving nieces, Kira and Krista Buono and best friend "sisters", Ruth and Julia. She impacted all of our lives greatly with love and devotion.
Margaret was fiercely dedicated to family and friends – putting everyone else’s needs before her own with a march in, roll up your sleeves, get this done together kind of attitude. She laughed loudly and loved unconditionally. As long as she had a book to read, her cats (Jackie and Mitzie) in her lap, a DD iced coffee on the table and country music playing on the radio, she was happy. Her nieces, who called her Tata, were the center of her universe. The times she spent with them doing crafts (especially coloring eggs at Easter time), playing board games or doing anything else together became her most cherished memories.

She and her sister, Trish, were kindred spirits who were lovingly devoted to each other. Margaret dearly loved and depended on her brother-in-law, Bob. She was born in Wurzburg, Germany while her father, a U.S. Army 1st Sergeant, was stationed there. She graduated from Waterford High School in 1975 and UConn in 1979 -- majoring in history. Most recently, she was the bookstore manager of Connecticut College and previously of Quinnipiac University.
She also had careers at Bradlees Department Stores and Pfaizcraft. Never forget to say “I love you” often to the people that mean the most to you because your world can change in seconds. Margaret always knew she was loved. Please wear something red to honor Margaret’s favorite color.
