Obituary: Richard A. "Dick" Scarpa, 71, of Waterford

Scarpa, Richard A. “Dick” 71 of Waterford died Friday October 28, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Born June 11, 1945 in New London to Frank Scarpa and Josephine Palmieri Scarpa. A Waterford High School graduate, Dick married the former Joyce Douchette Scarpa on May 27, 1967 in New London. Together they raised two children, Richie and Kim.

He retired from Electric Boat as pipe fitter supervisor with many dedicated years of service.
Dick was generous as a volunteer for the Cohanzie Fire Department and for Little League baseball as an assistant coach for Richie’s teams. He enjoyed the outdoors during his hunting outings or on the links playing golf. Dick always found joy to be with his family, especially his wife, children and grandchildren.

Besides his wife Joyce he is survived by son Richard Scarpa and his wife Jennifer, daughter Kim Barboza and her partner Scott Waters, former son in law Erik Barboza and 5 grandchildren Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Anthony, Raven and Jack. He was predeceased by brother Greg Scarpa and sister Sandra Ferendo.
A memorial visitation will be Friday November 4, 2016 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Byles Memorial Home 99 Huntington Street New London. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday November 5, 2016 at the Jordan Cemetery in Waterford.
