Obituary: Walter J. Beauchamp, 90, Of Waterford

He was a member of the Waterford Historical Society, the Quaker Hill Fire Co., National Rifle Association and the Niantic Sportsmen Club.

Walter J. Beauchamp, 90, of Waterford died Friday evening June 8, 2018 at Atria Crossroads Place in Waterford. Walter was born September 10, 1927 in New London, CT to Walter and Mary Almeida Beauchamp.

In his early years, Walter played professional baseball for the Boston Braves. A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Coast Guard. On August 1, 1953 he married Marion Young Beauchamp, she preceded him in death on August 4, 1983.

Walter was employed at Prizer Inc. for thirty six years until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Waterford Historical Society, the Quaker Hill Fire Co., National Rifle Association and the Niantic Sportsmen Club. He enjoyed fishing, Blue Shell crabbing, scalloping in the Niantic River and target shooting at the range.

He is survived by his loving companion of many years Patricia Silva; two children, daughter Robin Buscetto of Hebron and son Richard Beauchamp of Oakdale.

At the request of the family, Funeral Services are private. Interment will be at Jordan Cemetery in Waterford. Byles Memorial Home (99 Huntington Street, New London) is assisting the family with the arrangements.

The family suggests donations in Walter’s memory to their favorite charity.
