Police: New London Woman Stole $60,000 From 77-Year-Old Victim

Police say Evelyn Nival, 33, used the credit card and bank account of a 77-year-old to make hundreds of transactions totaling $60,000.

WATERFORD, CT—The Waterford Police Department arrested a New London woman on felony charges of identity theft, larceny, and criminal impersonation. Evelyn Nival, 33, of 59 Learned St., turned herself in to police Wednesday June 26 after learning of a warrant for her arrest, police said.

Waterford police Detective Sergeant Edward DeLaura said a warrant was issued following an "extensive investigation into hundreds of allegedly fraudulent transactions" totaling nearly $60,000.

Those transactions were made, police said, using the credit card and bank account of a 77-year-old victim "known to Nival."

Nival was charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree identity theft, payment card theft, illegal use of payment card, and criminal impersonation.

Nival was arraigned in New London Superior Court and held on $25,000 bond.
