"On October 31, 2019 at about 9:00 PM members of the Waterford Police Department Patrol Division were notified of a potential issue with Halloween candy. Officers found that 2 children, under 18 years old, had each received a sealed package of a “gummy” style candy. The package material stated each bag contained 10 gummies with a corresponding THC level of 10 mg per gummy. Only 2 packages were recovered.

The parents inspected the candy and came across the packages shown. No one ingested the candies and no injuries have been reported. The candy was obtained in the area of Gallup Lane in Waterford, CT. Officers have completed a neighborhood canvas and the investigation is on-going. As always the Waterford Police Department encourages parents to check the candy prior to eating it.
At this time, it is unknown if the candy was intentionally handed out or was an unintentional oversight by the owner. Currently Connecticut Medical Marijuana dispensaries are not authorized to sell edible candies.
