Waterford police officer involved in now under-investigation, two-car rollover crash that closed roads and toppled a pole, escaped injury.
WATERFORD, CT—A Waterford police officer escaped serious injury following a two-vehicle rollover crash late Friday afternoon, police said Saturday. The accident is under investigation, police said.
Police told residents on social media Friday evening that Old Norwich Road, between Fitzgerald Avenue and Porter Street, was closed for a motor vehicle accident and asked drivers to avoid the area. The Day first reported the crash was a two-car accident, one of which was a police car. It was also reported the accident "took down a pole," though not a utility pole.
It was first reported the 4:20 p.m. rollover-resulting crash "involved minor injuries but an officer was transported from the scene."

Silva said the accident scene was thoroughly documented and processed Friday and now, investigators will "piece together" what happened. Silva said it was early in the investigation so it's not known if there could be charges against the operator, he said.
Before sundown Friday, the road was still closed, according to the Facebook page of Waterford Police.
