Rep. McCarty Applauds Bond Commission Grants to Waterford

$475,000 grant will fund renovations to Camp Harkness and building improvements to the Dept of Developmental Services South Region Facility.

WATERFORD – State Representative Kathleen McCarty (R-Waterford) today applauded the Legislature’s Bond Commission for approving a grant to improve Waterford Department of Developmental Services facilities.

The projects covered by these funds include renovation designs to Camp Harkness – especially to the horse barn and stables – and building improvements to the DDS South Region facility. In total, the town of Waterford will receive $475,000 to fund these projects.

“Harkness Park and Camp Harkness have been such a highly valued entity in our community for a long time,” said Rep. McCarty. “I adopted the park as one of my first ventures as a State Representative with the goal of working towards sustaining funding to make improvements necessary in keeping the park open and running for constituents. I am really pleased to know how much the park and camp will benefit from these funds granted by the Bond Commission. I am also pleased that the Department of Developmental Services, which meaningfully serves so many in our district, will be able to make fire, safety, environmental or other improvements to address client and staff needs.”
