Rep. McCarty Congratulates Babe Ruth All-Stars

Attends Banquet for Waterford's Young Baseball Players at Great Neck Country Club

WATERFORD – 13-year-old Waterford Babe Ruth baseball players hit it out of the park this season, capping their successful run through the playoffs with a World Series victory in Ottumwa, IA. The
team, which also earned district, state and New England championship titles, was honored with a banquet where State Rep. Kathleen McCarty (R-38), who last year co-sponsored a bill to increase the safety of young athletes by preventing concussions in youth athletics, presented each player with a citation from the
Connecticut General Assembly recognizing their hard work, dedication and sportsmanship.

“What a wonderful achievement for such a talented group of young men,” said Rep. McCarty. “I am so happy to be here with you and your families to celebrate this momentous occasion, and wish you all the best in your future baseball careers. Thank you for representing the town of Waterford, and the State of Connecticut, so well – on and off the field.”

The 2016 Babe Ruth team is made up of the following players: Trey Brennan, Ryan Bakken, Jared Burrows, Ben Jerome, Sam Lanuza, Mike Marelli, Ryan O’Connell, Connor Podeszwa, Ryan Salvador, Matt Sanford,
Luke Sokolski, Anthony Tonucci, and Robert Zawacki. The team was managed by Dave Laffey and coached by Kyle Jones and Tim Jerome.
