Rep. McCarty Presents Citation to Waterford First Selectman for Town's Innovative Re-Development Plan
Daniel M. Steward accepted the award for Village Center plans

HARTFORD – Residents of Waterford have yet another admirable accomplishment to be proud of. The town’s outstanding planning and development efforts were recognized on May 5 by the Connecticut Chapter of the American Planning Association at an annual awards ceremony at the Capitol, where Rep. McCarty (R-Waterford) presented a citation to First Selectman Daniel M. Steward.
“Waterford’s vision and plan to create a Village Center that respects land use policies as well as historic resource protection is wonderful,” said Rep. McCarty. “This project is particularly special for me, as I live in the former residence of Ann Jordan – for whom the village is named – in Waterford.”
The Waterford Town Center Strategic Plan encompasses the area around Route 1, the Civic Triangle and Post Road Gateway. It includes the Route 1 Business District, Veterans Park, Waterford High School, Community Center & Senior Services, the Library, the Town Hall/Historic Jordan School, Public Safety & Youth Services offices, Post Office, Jordan Green, Jordan Village Fire Station, and Ashlar Dam & Fish Latter.
