Rep. McCarty Proud of O’Neill Theater’s Success
Center to Receive $6,000 Grant from DECD

WATERFORD — A Waterford gem, the Eugene O’Neill Theater, is set to receive a nearly $6,000 grant from the Connecticut Department of Economic & Community Development’s (DECD) Office of the Arts. State Representative Kathleen McCarty (R-38), a long-time Waterford resident and patron of the arts, is expressing her gratitude this week to the DECD for investing in the historic theater that provides so much opportunity and entertainment to her district.
“The O’Neill Theater has successfully raised private contributions that keep their center running and developing for many years,” said Rep. McCarty. “I am so pleased with this accomplishment and consider the honorary grant from the Connecticut Arts Endowment Fund recognizing this success greatly deserved. I look forward to seeing our local theater continue to grow.”
These funds are being granted through a stand-alone investment fund managed by the State Treasurer’s Office. The interest earned on the Fund is distributed annually to qualifying organizations. According to the Theater Center, the O'Neill is home to programs that serve nearly a thousand artists a year, and a new theatrical village with housing and rehearsal space to support the development of new work year-round.
