Old Saybrook, Conn. ~ The Southeastern Connecticut chapter of SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to the success of small businesses, will present a free Small Business Workshop on “How Connecticut Can Help You Grow Your Business.” Learn about an abundance of programs and services for small businesses.

At this workshop you will learn about all the resources Connecticut offers to gather market research insights, market analyses, business sector analyses and much more through CT agencies. This session is designed to help you understand all the services available to you by the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Inc. CERC is a non-profit corporation and public-private partnership that provides economic development services.

Learn about the facets of business planning, licensing and registration, real estate, research and data, and much more.

This interactive session with Elizabeth Wallace, Director of Business Services at CERC, targets new, expanding and relocating businesses. You will learn how to connect to the abundance of programs and services that Connecticut offers to help businesses be successful. Bring your questions and we will help you find the answers.

About Workshop Presenter Elizabeth Wallace

Beth is responsible for overseeing CERC’s management and support of the state’s business development and recruitment initiatives involving coordinating, reporting and cultivating relationships with strategic partners and prospective national and international business clients interested in doing business in Connecticut. She works closely with state agencies and resource partners to administer and maintain CERC’s licensing and business information databases.

Beth joined CERC as a business information specialist in 1994. She previously worked at RPM Systems, an economic and environmental consulting firm in New Haven. She is a graduate of Marymount University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in economics.

She received the designation of Economic Development Professional (EDP) in 2006 by NEDA. In 2010 and 2011, she was recognized by the Connecticut Small Business Development Center for her hours of dedicated volunteer services in teaching classes in entrepreneurship. She also works closely with the Women’s Business Development Center, SCORE and other regional organizations to teach classes.

Beth is a member of the board of the Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS). She is also a member of the Northeastern Economic Developers Association (NEDA) and completed the New England Economic Development Course.

About SCORE: SCORE is a nonprofit association that offers free and confidential advice on starting your own business or improving and growing your existing small business. All 40 counselors in Southeast Connecticut are volunteers, receive no compensation, and are working or retired business owners, executives, and managers. SCORE’s eight counseling sites in Southeast Connecticut include Guilford, Madison, New London, Old Saybrook, Essex, Waterford, Middletown, and Norwich.
